Time Flies!

June 22,2018

This week I put my two weeks in at work. There has been so much going on that my work simply cannot be as flexible as we need for all of this fertility treatment, so we decided it was time for me to leave. However, I may go back after we get pregnant.

Eri is just a few days away from starting STIMS, and I am about a week into my leupron injections. More importantly and incredibly, we are about three weeks away from retrieval and transfer, and 4 weeks away from our blood test results that will tell us whether we are pregnant or not. Ahhh!!! We are so close yet so far away!

We cannot wait! This entire process seems so surreal! We have wanted this from the very beginning of our relationship, and now we are in it, and it is just flying by. If this pregnancy sticks we could literally be less than a year away from being parents! Unbelievable! Oh, god, I hope this first attempt takes! I cannot wait to meet our little people!

On injections!

Today is day 5 of injections. My stomach is fairly bruised, and I have about 5 days to go, but I had a culture and ultrasound done today, and also introduced ganirelix to my menopure and follistim daily ritual. Megan thinks I’ll likely retrieve early, to avoid early ovulation-and I’m assuming discomfort.

The injections are much easier than I expected, but it will never not be weird to have to Inject myself while at work. The follistim I take in the evenings has to be refrigerated, so I keep the meds in the refrigerator at work, hide out in the pantry of the kitchen and get it done as quickly as possible.

It’s hard to believe the retrieval is less than a week away. Although we Are not doing a transfer this month, Megan says my uterus looks great, so hopefully during eri’s cycle I can get it looking just as well. Soon after my retrieval we head to Vegas for my nephews graduation. Once we get back we will like start eri’s journey and get ready for a fresh embryo transfer in July. It’s amazing how quickly this experience is flying by. We could be pregnant so very soon!

May the 4th be with you!

May 4th

Star Wars day! One of my favorite days of the year! And it also happens to be the day I started stims (or injections). I hadn’t been nervous at all, until the box of medication with syringes and needles showed up to our home. And suddenly, I had no idea how I was going to stab myself in the stomach with a needle. However, after the first shot, every day from there on out was a breeze. I had to take 75iu of Manipur in the morning, 150iu of follistim in the evening (later switched over to only 75iu), and after three days of injections, I also introduced ganirelix to my morning injections as well. My evening follistim injection required my refrigerating and injecting myself at work. Luckily, right now I work for a preschool, and a majority of my day is spent in a kitchen. So I was able to put my meds right in the area I work in, and inject myself without drawing attention to myself.

Due to the response my body was having to the meds, my egg retrieval was moved up from Tuesday May 15th, to Mother’s Day-Sunday May 13th.

My wife and I are bummed to have to miss Mother’s Day with eri’s Mom and grandmother, but we couldn’t help but be excited about two very lucky and significant days for our journey to baby!
